Pinterest Settings

FotoJournal lets you use Pinterest to promote your blog in three ways:

  1. Adding “Pin It” buttons to blog posts
  2. Adding “Pin It” buttons to each image within a blog post
  3. Verifying your site with Pinterest to get access to their analytics

1: Adding “Pin It” buttons to posts

You can choose which posts you want shareable on Pinterest by checking the “Pinterest” box under “Sharing” options when editing a post. This will add a small “Pin It” button under the post headline on your blog that, when clicked, will share a link to the post.

2: Adding “Pin It” buttons to each image

Pinterest is awesome for sharing individual images, so FotoJournal makes it really easy to add a “Pin It” button to each image you post to your blog. This lets your visitors choose exactly which image they want to share. To enable this, go to “Settings” in FotoJournal and check the box labeled “Add a “Pin It” button to my images.” Now when people hover their mouse over your images, the “Pin It” button will appear and let them share the image on Pinterest.

3: Verifying your website

Verifying your site proves to Pinterest that you actually own the website you claim to. When you do this, you get access to additional analytics in Pinterest that shows you, for example, all the things getting pinned from your website. FotoJournal lets you verify your site using meta tags. There are three steps to this:

  1. Obtain your meta tag from Pinterest as described here.
  2. Go to “Settings” in FotoJournal and paste your meta tag into the “Custom head code”box.
  3. Go back to Pinterest and click the “Complete Verification” button.

Pinterest is a great way to get your photography shared around the internet and build traffic back to your website, so we highly recommend using all three of these methods!
